Refugium Lunz (AT)

A boutique hotel in the idyllic Austrian village of Lunz attracts guests looking for peace and quiet or adventure in the great outdoors. A touch of luxury is a must – not least thanks to AquaClean shower toilets.

The building is ancient. Its history dates back to the 16th century. It was mostly used as a pub, but at some point the doors remained closed. The building was in danger of losing its purpose, its essence.

In 2019, entrepreneurs Joachim Mayr and Heinz Glatzl walked through the tranquil town of Lunz in a snowstorm and saw the property. They regretted the emptiness of the rooms. But this emptiness created dreams of what could be. They bought the jewel and began to realise their vision. A “refuge“ was created.

Do nothing, do a lot
The boutique hotel should be a place of retreat. Offering a touch of luxury. Peace and quiet or adventure.

"Down by the lake. Up at the summit. Hear the waves, hear the wind. Or nothing. You can read or just look, there's plenty to see. For the tired and the lively, at their own pace. You don't have to do anything, but you can do a lot."

The verse is not inappropriate for the AquaClean Sela shower toilets, which add the aforementioned touch of luxury to the bathrooms in the Refugium. You don't need to do anything, the intimate cleaning practically happens by itself. And yet a lot can be done – from adjusting the shower jet intensity and position to the temperature. “A real oasis of well-being“
Roland Zarl, project manager of the responsible sanitary company Hopferwieser & Steinmayr, says: “We have made our contribution to creating a real oasis of well-being at the highest level. For me, it's a place to arrive and stay – maybe even on my next holiday.“

If he is lucky, one of the 23 individually furnished rooms will still be available. The garden room, the sauna room or perhaps the sun room.

"Your space, your time. Just do what you want. Lie around, listen to the river. Look into nothingness, into a book. Dance if you like. You don't have to sleep, but you can dream a lot."
